Bonding of an Aluminum Heatsink

Bonding of an Aluminum Heatsink to a Printed Circuit Board (PCB)

A manufacturer of circuit boards in the Midwest required an aluminum heatsink to be bonded to 25 printed circuit boards (PCB). The PCB measured 8.500″ x 6.500″ and was 1/16″ thick. The heatsink which was precision CNC routed and drilled featured a clean anodized finish to prevent corrosion. The heatsink was bonded using Pyralux LG-1000 and positioning on the PCB to a tolerance of ±.005″. Dimensional quality control was carried out for each unit, as well as Hi-Pot testing at 500 volts @ 100 megaohms.
